Pollster says there is a shift in independent voters' views of Mueller probe

I think we have to give Muellers longer report some time to sink in and then poll the people. But the below is alarming. -and sad and sickening

Pollster Dritan Nesho said in an interview that aired Friday on Hill.TV's "What America's Thinking" that there is a shift in independent voters' views of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.

"Who you see shifting in terms of their opinions are independents," Nesho, the CEO of HarrisX, told host Jamal Simmons on Wednesday.

"Republicans have largely been consistent in their view of the investigation, considering it to be biased or in many cases, baseless," he continued.

"Democrats have been very consistent in their view of the investigation, considering it to be absolutely necessary and believing that there was evidence of collusion or obstruction beyond some of the actions that Trump had taken," he said.

"It's the independents in the middle that right now are breaking in favor of the president, [and] largely accept [Attorney General William] Barr's memo and his conclusions," he said.

The interview was conducted before Barr released a redacted version of Mueller's long-anticipated report on Thursday.

Only cable news carried analysis of the report. Look at the small amount of viewers that watch cable news compared to network and local news. This is one argument for impeachment. Impeachment will be covered by network news and everyone will see it. Hearings will only be seen by political junkies who already made up their minds.

The reason we lost 2016 was swing independents somehow preferring Trump. The reason we won big in 2018 was swing independents turning against Trump in early 2017 and remaining there through November 2018.

That group will decide 2020. There are too many posts around here trying to pretend that Republicans are a severely declining slice of the electorate. Meanwhile in Florida last year 38% of voters self-identified as Republicans compared to 33% as Democrats. We did have a 9% advantage among independents (54-45) but it simply wasn't enough because more Republicans showed up.

This guy said in an interview that less than 2 out 10 believed there was any evidence of collusion or conspiracy. Not buying it.

Most people who call themselves "independent" consistently lean right or left. So the right leaners still support him. No big surprise.
