After two years of waiting, journalists finally began digging into the redacted version of the Mueller report this week. Reading through the some-450 pages, some media advocates discovered confirmation of reporting about turmoil within the White House and Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Yet, many questions remain uncertainties that will surely lead to speculative analysis and sloppy coverage.
OTM actually got a primer on how to tackle the Mueller media beat with the help of Eric Umansky deputy managing editor at ProPublica and a co-host of Trump, Inc., a podcast produced by ProPublica and WNYC. Back in early March, he helped Brooke prepare a Breaking News Consumer Handbook: Mueller Investigation Edition. In this interview, Bob and Eric re-evaluate the BNCH in light of the document dump, and discuss how new revelations should inform our news consumption going forward.
