Could we try and stop putting people on pedestals?

As if they are perfect and could never make a mistake?

As if they are too intelligent to ever be outwitted?

Or that their judgement is always correct?

We are all human and fallible. It doesn't matter if we are special prosecutors, congressional leaders, former presidents, or whomever, we can all make mistakes. None of us is perfect.

They have not failed us - we have failed them.

One person that could never be out-witted was Robert Mueller. It now appears that maybe he did make a couple of mistakes in his investigation?

Not all mistakes are equal either. Some are relatively minor, some are grievous. And then there's the question of how the transgressor handled the situation. Were the mistakes acknowledged? Were amends made? Many important considerations.

There are a few candidates, public figures who are in the news who are being blamed for things right now. I didn't know how specific you were being.

I agree that the pedestal propping, hero worship that can happen during a campaign or toward hopeful saviours is a risky thing to do for both the saviour and the savee. Yes, we need to keep things realistic.
