General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have C-Span streaming on my computer right now and I just have one observation to make.
Mike Pence is so, so, so, so incredibly boring.
He has all the charisma of a piece of Wonderbread soaked in water for a day.
The guy is duller than dull.
So anyone wringing their hands thinking, "But if we impeach and remove Trump, we'll get Pence!" I just have one thing to say:
Bring him on.

(32,639 posts)That's why Pence is so boring, because Chump won't allow the TV cameras on anyone but himself.

(58,785 posts)host. He knows how not to be boring at all. This creeps patience and self-discipline are scary.
With any luck, his years of posing as a Trump acolyte and self abnegation will bring him nothing but disgrace and banishment, though I still hope for prison. Maintaining complete plausible deniability in the middle of the Trump swap seems unlikely.

(31,999 posts)Here's a real stomach turning article from the NYT.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/20/us/politics/who-is-karen-pence.html
Mr. and Mrs. Pence met at church, according to reports, and spent their first date ice skating at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
It was love at first sight, Mrs. Pence said in a campaign ad for her husbands run for governor.
She was so sure of their relationship that she began carrying a gold cross with the word Yes engraved on it for when he proposed.

(9,895 posts)First, you have to have found an engraved cross that said "yes"...
Then, why the fuck would ANYONE be carrying that in inventory?
Is there really a market of Christian women carrying around crosses that say "yes"?
And why?
Does the generic "yes" mean they too want to be crucified?
Does it mean they are affirming that Jesus was crucified?
Does it mean that everyone should believe as they do and accept a crucified savior?
Or is more likely just a BS story that Karen Pence MADE UP OUT OF WHOLE CLOTH to appease the idiots in the voting block that thinks that kind of horseshit is real?
I know which way Occam's razor would point...
Ohiogal
(31,999 posts)and had it engraved? then carried it around with her everywhere hoping hed pop The Question? When he did, did she whip it out and show it to him in answer? Isnt that, like, blasphemous?
Either way, its just beyond nauseating.

(40,211 posts)I will say that the Mr. and Mrs. Pence actually to seem to love each other and appear to have an actual marriage, as opposed to the Trumps who have some bizarro thing of convenience going on.
That said, Mike Pence is so repressed and uptight it is uncomfortable to listen to him speak.

(10,198 posts)Pence is no doubt far smarter than Trump and has many equally dangerous ideas, But he'd never motivate the base the way Trump does. He'd be DOA.

Nonsense, it'll be easy for Republicans to rally around him.

(1,639 posts)So, he probably wouldn't embarrass us on the world stage with regularity. However, Pence, like so many others who embrace fundamentalist thinking, is a genuine danger to democracy and a thriving--hell, surviving world.
Anyone who looks at this world and life in it as a "secondary" experience that is only meant to prepare oneself for another, "superior" existence should not be in charge of policies that effect the future.

(6,926 posts)Pence however is sincere in his twisted pretend Christian beliefs. There are people who would support him in his bigoted false "Christian" beliefs. Then there are those who will support him because he has Trumps boy. It is a cult.

(6,176 posts)Watching Pence speak is more boring than watching paint dry.
Hearing Pence speak is more boring than getting trapped into a conversation with Uncle Fred, who always tells the same story about the time he met Mike Pence.
Getting trapped in a conversation with Mike Pence makes you wish you were back with Uncle Fred.

(62,415 posts)Can he (or unlikely she) sign legislation and nominate the judges they are told to. Their base would vote for whoever they are told to and accept whatever they do even if it costs them their livelihood.
So some advertising company can take a lump of shit named Pence and polish that turd into what resembles a human close enough to not make the base question voting for him. And they can fill his mouth with enough dog whistles to call the base to do their duty.
