McConnell is the power behind the throne and could eliminate Trump if he had morals.

McConnell is the leader of the Republican Senate and is the one who holds all the Senators at bay.
He demands servility and will punish anyone who breaks with the ranks.
If he suddenly had an attack of morals and decided to defend America he could rally the Senators and get enough votes to convict Trump in an impeachment.

Therefore McConnell is the lynchpin that keeps Trump in power.

Trump is the symptom but McConnell is the disease.

I feel there should be a concerted effort to find a chink in his armor because if he is allowed to remain in control, America will not recover even if Trump is voted out in 2020.

I'm grateful for what he's done. I think his ad's are good and remind people that not all rich folks, are repubs ready to sell the soul of America. He's put up more moola than my entire family will earn in a lifetime.
Mr Steyer. Thank you.

takes a lot for me to say that, but it's true. he's been throttling progress and abusing his power for years. and you are right. if he took a stand the senate would then have permission to do the same. he's the living proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

They are stacking the Judiciary with Trump appointments. He is not going to move on Trump because he is getting everything he wants in that regard. We are going to be dealing with Trump judges for decades.

the Senate Majority Leader is the most powerful and untouchable person in the country.

He alone decides if legislation goes forward, he has no accountability to anyone, there is no mechanism to deal with him if he is corrupt.

Or maybe it is just an issue if all other senators in his party, the AG, and the executive branch is completely without integrity, honesty, or even a whisper of honor.

WTF is going on here?

I loathe McConnell most of all.

And he rarely gets called out by the media. I think I recall that Chris Hayes has done it, but that's about it.

As long as he's getting what he wants, he's going to keep going. If Trump's voted out, he'll continue to obstruct as he did with Obama. He rushed dozens and dozens of judge nominations through when he knew he could get his friends from the Federalist Society on the bench, and withheld nominations for years under Obama until there was a shortage and a crisis. This is all in addition to his blatant theft of Merrick Garland's seat on the SCOTUS.

He's super rich, insanely powerful, completely out of touch with any constituency that doesn't include other extremely wealthy and powerful people like himself. He will actively harm the poor, women, POC, LGBTQ+, and immigrants, because none of those people even exist in any meaningful way for him. They're (we're) an abstraction. He will suppress votes, gerrymander, lie, cheat, block Senate votes, obstruct, whatever he thinks he needs to do to give his party the tiniest edge. Not even because he believes in the party, but because it will keep him in power.

It will take decades to undo the damage he has done to social progress in this country.

The other is Stephen Miller. An unabashed white nationalist who is unelected, unvetted, is behind some of the most despicable policies of the current administration, has the President's ear, and is far too close to the levers of power for my tastes.

There are a lot of hints that there could be criminality behind his power.
If there is I wish someone would dig it up and send him along the Tom Delay path to glory.
