Fundraising numbers

When they report the fundraising totals why do they just report the NUMBER? It's like equating the stock market number with the whole economy. There is more to both of them.

When reporting the fundraising totals it should also be mentioned how much money was gotten from which kind of donors. Raising $5 million from 2 rich donors or PACS, is not the same as raising $5 million by getting $5 from a million voters. Those things are NOT EQUAL and that truth is not reflected in stating a single number.

With unitemized contributions, we really have no idea where the money is coming from.
