We don't know for sure where any Republican Senator stands on the issue of impeachment. We assume that they are all against it. But we don't know for sure? That is why they need to be on the record.
If the only way to get them on the record is to impeach, then perhaps that will be the only way to go?
But to watch the government slowly die, and do nothing, is not acceptable.
Sometimes we have to take a stand.
If the Democrats end up impeaching Donald Trump, the Republicans cannot hide. Even if they do not take a vote, we will know where they stand.
That is the least that the people deserve from their Congress.

Sorry, I don't care about impeaching just "for the record."
And personally, I am not doing do nothing. I'm just not in favor of impeaching at this time. I'm in favor of investigations. And I'm in favor of voting him out, which I believe to be better than impeachment at this time.

(111,095 posts)You are not able to get one person before the Congress at this time. How are you going to investigate when there is no one to ask any questions? I don't think it is that simple?
I still have hope that even if he is impeached and not convicted, the people will vote him out in the next election. I do not see acquittal as an automatic victory for the Republicans. I want them on the record so we can also win the Senate and their asses homes in November 2020.

(12,344 posts)It's also not automatic that getting Senators on the record will actually hurt them.
If Trump continues to block all subpoenas, that may change things, but we aren't there yet. It's not automatic ignoring subpoenas won't hurt Trump as much (or as little) as impeachment might.

We are what what makes this country run. Those in the House and Senate work for us. We have the power to change their job descriptions.
