Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) described Trumps conduct as scummy and wrong.
He is unfit for the presidency, Schiff declared.
He worried about the message sent by not impeaching Trump, but reminded that the 2020 elections are coming up.
Vote his ass out of office, Schiff urged.
We have it in our power to vote him out of office we proved that in the midterms, he noted.

(51,628 posts)We can't put all our eggs in one basket. Vote him out but start televised impeachment-style hearings (is that what we are calling them now?) NOW! Walk the walk Dems!

(18,837 posts)I don't have any idea how long it will take for America to get to step two.
But if everyone VOTES 556 days from now, THAT's when step one begins. THAT'S when the Trump appointees go OUT, THAT'S when the "executive orders" get overwritten. THAT'S when private citizen Donald J. Trump faces the music for all of the charges that can't be brought against a "sitting president."
WHOEVER ends up as the Democratic candidate on the ballot, weigh it against four more years of Trump, and VOTE.

(1,096 posts)Impeach in the House. The Senate will refuse to do their job. Then... we will vote him out of office.

(570 posts)The Senate refuses to do their job, vote him out of office AND take back the Senate....and continue cleaning the House of GOP vermin.
This isn't just about Trump. It's about defending our democracy by ridding this country of the party that's accepting money from foreign governments, covering up crime and corruption, stealing elections with undermining voting rights and purging voting rolls, and turning the Senate into a legislative graveyard.

(2,856 posts)Too much damage can be done during that time on top of the damage already done. Mitch McConnell is milking President Nazi for all he can. It does not matter if the Senate will do nothing. That's the only thing they consistently do. If hearings are started and all evidence is laid bare before the nation then they can vote for impeachment. Then all of that evidence and behaviors and accomplices go to the Senate which will excuse multiple instances of criminality and maybe even instances of outright treason. It will be on them. The House will have done its constitutional duty. Then maybe Mitch McConnell can explain his acceptance of very large Russian donations to his campaign. And his partnering with Russian Oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, on their new aluminum factory (money laundering operation) which is already beginning to smell. He will never do the right thing because money, power and stuff.
But, hearings need to be initiated forthwith. Subpoenas need to be issued. The republicans need to be lined up like bowling pins and scattered relentlessly strike after strike after strike.

(3,176 posts)...impractical and unpopular impeachment may be to some, the destruction, crimes and harm trump has done should not go Constitutionally unchallenged lest his actions and our tolerance become the new norm...
...do we really want to encourage or live in a new perpetual trumpian environment?
...I really would like to see Adam Schiff run for president...he's one of the very few who could battle and beat trump one-on-one yet project civility under all other circumstances...
