What is the procedure after impeachment hearings but before the vote in the Senate?

Is it possible, for the hearings to not officially end prior to November 2020? so that going into the election, the Senate hasn't had the opportunity to vote on impeachment yet?

1) House judiciary committee votes bill of impeachment to the full House. This is how far it got before Nixon resigned.

2) House impeaches president. This in indictment not conviction. Bill Clinton was impeached. Likewise Andrew Johnson.

3) Senate removes president from office. This has never happened in US history.

The constitution does not provide any time frames around the Senate holding a trial after the House votes to impeach. And it's McConnell. Apparently, he does whatever he wants.
