Rick Scott Should Be In Jail

by BooMan
Sun Aug 26th, 2012 at 04:58:20 PM EST

Any outcome to this election that doesn't ultimately result in Florida Governor Rick Scott going to prison is not going to be fully satisfactory. We haven't seen such naked attempts to disenfranchise blacks since the 1960's. He's also the man who carried out the biggest example of Medicare fraud in the country's history.

In settlements reached in 2000 and 2002, Columbia/HCA pled guilty to 14 felonies and agreed to a $600+ million fine in the largest fraud settlement in US history. Columbia/HCA admitted systematically overcharging the government by claiming marketing costs as reimbursable, by striking illegal deals with home care agencies, and by filing false data about use of hospital space. They also admitted fraudulently billing Medicare and other health programs by inflating the seriousness of diagnoses and to giving doctors partnerships in company hospitals as a kickback for the doctors referring patients to HCA. They filed false cost reports, fraudulently billing Medicare for home health care workers, and paid kickbacks in the sale of home health agencies and to doctors to refer patients. In addition, they gave doctors "loans" never intending to be repaid, free rent, free office furniture, and free drugs from hospital pharmacies.

In late 2002, HCA agreed to pay the U.S. government $631 million, plus interest, and pay $17.5 million to state Medicaid agencies, in addition to $250 million paid up to that point to resolve outstanding Medicare expense claims. In all, civil law suits cost HCA more than $2 billion to settle, by far the largest fraud settlement in US history.

How in the hell did Florida voters look at this man's record and decide to make him their governor? He's a straight-up crook. He should be considered a felon many times over. And now people are surprised that he acts like a gangster?

The really weird thing is all those retired Florida Jews voted for the guy whose grandfather Prescott Bush, and Great-Grandfather George Herbert Walker were Directors on the Board of HAPUG (Hamburg-America Shipping) controllers of the destination of the "Voyage of the Damned" ship named literally after Walker's hometown, St Louis. Hundreds of Jews were turned back to Nazi Europe to their ultimate deaths because of these Bush anti-semites. Prescott Bush administered his bosses (Fritz Thyssen) Upper Silesian Steel and Coal Company while boss was under house arrest selling coal to Auschwitz until fall 1942, eight months after Pearl Harbor.

Especially when a particular family is a crime family that consistently floats above the law, steals elections, kills innocents by the hundreds of thousands, and is right now plotting their return to the White House.

Never punished beyond a hand-slap, the crimes of the Bushes led directly from the father to the son to the son's sons, an unbroken series of assaults on our republic which should have been stopped cold in 1942.

So hell yes, I knew George W. Bush was going to be an asshole, just like his father and his grandfather. And I did hold his family's crimes against him, and I was absolutely fucking right to do so. Where I failed was in convincing others, and that was not for lack of trying.

But I will happily say that your approach is more dignified and honorable than my own.

There was plenty about George W. Bush that should have disqualified him before he got as far as he had, that also is true.

But it took his father and his brother to help him steal the Presidency of the United States. That is a crime family.

been proven several times.

FWIW: On election morning, Alex Sink was ahead by 5% according to the polls. All day, it looked like Alex Sink was going to win according to the exit polls. At the end of the day when the "official" count came in, Alex Sink lost to Voldemort by 5%.

Unlike Fox Noise, I will not draw a conclusion for you, I'll let you draw your own. However, while I vote every elelction, I don't expect it means much at all.

But you are correct about Rick Scott being a dirtbag!!!

Prescott Bush's behavior is a family trait though. George HW Bush and George W Bush have had very cozy relationships with the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia. W had a floundering business bought by the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia which made W a ton of money. But the purchase of W's business was not an investment, IT WAS A BRIBE!

As far as Prescott, the Federal Government confiscated assets in WWII because those assets were made from investments in Nazi Germany.

I'm a teacher...
. If you let everyone get away with their bad deeds, the kids will walk all over you.
. Rick Scott of Florida is a great one to start with.
. He is one of many!
. If you send one down to the office for disrupting a noisy class, then life gets better.
. The point is everyone talks about these people, but never do a thing.
. Just pick one, get him/her to prison and good will come back to this country.
. Just focus on one now. It will work.
. Rick Scott is a great one to begin with. He should have been imprisoned years ago.

Comprende? Now let's get him!,

Should not have tried for the Senate. Would have easily won re-election, and we would not be dealing with this voter disenfranchisement right now.

The fact is, the anti-choice movement will elect anyone who says he or she is opposed to abortion no matter anything else about the candidate. They will gladly vote against their interests in every other respect as long as the candidate opposes abortion.

That's why the repubs are so anti-abortion. They know that anti-abortion zealots are so fanatical that they can count on them as long as they say they oppose abortion.

A great political cartoon of the 90's included this punchline - "Conservatives would elect John Gotti to office if he opposed abortion and supported school prayer."

19. Scott: one of most notorious criminals of our time

The feds, arguably freed up from their choice of ignorance for the banker crimes, have been very busy in Miami, FL busting up alleged Medicaid fraud rings. I know of several convicted principals who have been given 40+ year sentences.
Just last week another group was convicted in Miami and they all face effectively life sentences. Murder convicts get less than these folks.
Now we have one Rick Scott, billionaire governor of Florida and Fascist party favorite.
No longer content with fleecing the government out of public finds (isn't this considered legal by Repukes?), Scott is now actively involved in voter suppression.
Please look at the facts before condemning the whole state for "electing" this cretin.
Scott won by a whisker (less than a percent) after outspending Alex Sink 7 to 1.
He brought the office.
He is one of modern times most notorious and obvious criminals and we can only hope that eventually his karma will catch up to him.

The tea-baggers were mobilized to show up on election day.

Our inspiration was Alex Sink, a for BofA executive. She's a very nice person, but that's about all you can say about her. Lousy public speaker. Lousy candidate all around. She did or said nothing to inspire people to turn out to vote for he. Her running mate was the better candidate, and he was invisible the whole election.
