I am sick to death of hearing how the Democrats arent doing enough, saying enough, acting aggressively enough towards Trump. To hear some people spin it, the problem isnt the lying, thieving, law-breaking, tub-o-lard sitting in the White House its the party that has failed to take him down.
Stop yelling that the firefighters arent putting the blaze out fast enough, when the known arsonist the one whose been setting fires for more than two fucking years is watching every conflagration with a shit-eating grin on his face, surrounded by the people of his party who not only fan the flames, but ensure he has an endless supply of matches and gasoline.
Of all the look over there! distractions Trump & the Traitors have perpetrated since he took office, this has been the biggest distraction of all propagating the idea that Trump and the GOP are not at fault for the disastrous state of our nation, because the true fault lies with those who have yet to remove him from office.
What the Republicans are selling right now is not how successful Trumps tenure in office has been, but the lack of success of those who would topple him. They are not saying were better than you because, despite the overwhelming evidence, we didnt elect a racist, Putin-fellating, pussy-grabber to the highest office in the country. Theyre saying were better than you because we know we elected a racist, Putin-fellating, pussy-grabber and theres nothing you can do about it.
Enough already. Stop buying what the Republicans are selling. Trump is responsible for Trump. The Republican party is responsible for Trump. The ass-kissers who suck-up to the idiot in the Oval Office are responsible for Trump. The perjurers, the corrupt appointees, the criminals placed in positions of power, they are all responsible for Trump and everything hes done to destroy our democracy, diminish our standing in the world, and encourage division at every turn.
The Republicans elected, supported, protected, and enabled Donald J. Trump and continue to do so. They have sat silent as he lies, as he disrespects the office of POTUS, as he breaks the law without hesitation.
So lets stop pointing our fingers at ourselves and our party. We didnt put this asshole in the WH so lets stop buying into the GOP-spin that its somehow our fault that hes still there.

(32,823 posts)Chump is already trying to get "four more years" but his first 2-point-5 years have been an unmitigated disaster. He grabs all the credit from Obama's economic boom while at the same time tearing down every other thing Obama tried to accomplish. Chump sows chaos and dissension wherever he goes and that's his only message. We've heard it already and we know how empty it is.
Chump doesn't deserve four more years, just as he didn't earn the first four. It's up to us Democrats and independent voters to unite behind our candidate (whomever he/she may be) and take this national trash out for the good of the country.

(2,067 posts)Sitting there saying to ourselves "This isn't my fault so I have no responsibility for cleaning up this mess" sounds like a great way for those of us in the States to end up in cages ourselves.

that we have no responsibility to do anything?
We always have a responsibility to do whatever we can to defend and protect our democracy. But that responsibility does not include accepting the blame for having fucked it up in the first place.
How you read were not to blame for what Trump & the GOP are doing to this country as meaning lets sit around and do nothing is anybodys guess.

(25,499 posts)Agree entirely. That line of reasoning has gotten incredibly tiresome. A few posters have either been asleep for the past two years (and, particularly, since we took over the House) or are being intentionally ignorant.
