My guess, read the news feeds which are all nationalized and syndicated. The local news of national interest gets reported within seconds.

My belief is that national news syndicators will hire "local" staff to run down stories, but their "Beat" will likely be up to 100 miles in any direction.

I recently saw a news article about a national level news happening in Los Angeles, the person editing the reporting was in Alaska and one reporter was based in San Diego.

people don't have the attention span to read in-depth articles anymore

It is all soundbites on TV or twitter . we are dumbing down the population
