If members of the White House press corps had any self-respect theyd stop attending any events at the White House and stop covering Trump in person all together. Not his rallies, not his walk to the helicopter, nothing. Winter is here. Show some balls people. Stop being lambs.

(9,925 posts)Wall to wall media coverage. Especially "Fake news" ,CNN.

(10,409 posts)Further, when he lies, it disqualifies any reporting on the event. He's reached 10,000 lies or misleading statements. That's enough for the American people to sort through.
And maybe, if he doesn't start allowing oversight by Congress and complying with information requests, that also keeps him in the media dark.
This guy thrives for media. He cannot win a campaign without it.
The media have the power to knock some reality into this "fake" president.
They should exercise it.
Let him try to win with FOX news alone.

(20,308 posts)to keep the public informed about what the government is up to. I should think a couple note takers could follow him around to alert everybody in case he abruptly announces that he's starting a war someplace or something. No cameras.

(4,312 posts)stop the press permanently. Altogether. No one following him and keeping track of his misdeeds.

(20,308 posts)He might be able to keep them off the grounds of the White House but as soon as he shows up in a public space somewhere else he can't keep them away. Besides, he's all about the visuals. He picks cabinet members and department heads based on how they look on TV. It might be enough to just stop using cameras and putting his ugly mug on TV. We don't need to see him anyway.

(82,849 posts)But the media supinely allowed the administration of Bush the Stupider to co-opt many of them, treat others like shit, play favorites with impunity, and even allow someone like Guckert/Gannon to operate in their midst without calling him out. Trump, of course, raised the stakes, and when he saw that he could get away with calling the media the enemy of the people, it was off to the races.
For whatever reason, the Dana Milbank watched all this happen with a bland passivity that The Watcher* could only envy. Bad things weren't happening to him, so why rock the boat and invite unwanted attention? Or, conversely (and perversely), taking your own profession's side against a ravening monster of an administration might slip into (Gasp!) partisanship or worse, subjectivity. That would make the Ghost of David Broder cry, and might earn you the label of an Unserious Person.
So the question is presented once again, Mr. Milbank: What are you going to do about it? Will you and your journalist cohort stand up for yourselves? Will you call out this administration's horrible conduct, at long last? Will you refuse to be distracted by the next outrage and stay on task? If you won't stand up for yourself and your profession, why should citizens put themselves on the line for you?

(30,613 posts)Showing Pres. Trump or Huckster-Bee on your TV channel is a sure way to get me to change the channel. I am sure I'm not alone in that.

(9,400 posts)I got totally burned out from watching the M$M serving as President Fraud's foghorn to normalize him and help him take credit for things he hasn't done. That's why I have turned it off during the daytime and pretty much just read my news now. I do still DVR Rachel and Lawrence but that's the extent of my viewing of cable news TV.
