IMHO, potus is too chaotic to sell war with Iran. Hopefully

I may be naive, and this could be wishful thinking. But Bush 2.0 was able to wage a strong, consistent campaign to move Americans in their favor. It took years, coordination, and a political mastermind. It took leadership and commitment.

Potus has none of that at his disposal. No one believes his gelatinous mouthing-off, and so he's alone. Even though the gop keep their heads down and allow him to trample procedure and policy and history, they won't go out on a limb for him. He has no Colin Powell.

He'll piss off Iran, but he won't repeat Iraq. He's too unstable.

W had Cheney who was a master of gaming the government. Trump's got Bolton and Pompeo.

I just cannot see Trump being able to focus his attention long enough to understand the complexities of military actions.

ETA: I second your "hopefully."

Wag the dog deflection from an incompetent a-hole. Wars might have swayed some in the past but don't think don the con can get away with it.

He can't stand being upstaged, even by someone out of the public eye

He is chaotically impulsive and anyone who does not shift with his every whim is fired. No long range planning is allowed, it would conflict with rule by tweet.

He rules with an iron hand, anyone with an independent mindset to organize a full scale war would threaten his power.
