Shocker! The GoFundMe Campaign to Build the Wall Is a Bust

YA DON'T SAY!
Shocker! The GoFundMe Campaign to Build the Wall Is a Bust
And now, the donors to the effort are demanding answers.

Back in December, Washington state Trump supporter Joshua Greene donated a small amount of money to the crowdfunding effort to build a wall along the southern border. He wasn’t alone. The GoFundMe page to build the wall, to which he’d donated, was a sensation on the right in late 2018 and raised more than $20 million.

Organized by triple-amputee veteran Brian Kolfage, the campaign eventually morphed into a nonprofit called We Build the Wall, which promised to build portions of the wall on private land using the money it raised.

Months later, there’s no evidence that any construction has started, despite claims from Kolfage and his allies that construction would start in April. And now Greene is wondering what ever happened to that wall he was promised his dollars would fund?

“The lack of updates is very concerning,” Greene wrote in an email to Right Richter.

He’s not the only GoFundMe donor curious about what happened to the wall money. Since We Build the Wall blew their April deadline, Twitter replies to Kolfage and the group’s Facebook page have filled up with angry donors. Greene started tweeting his displeasure, too.

A former Apprentice winner. I’d heard it before but for some reason it struck home. Did you see the interview? It was about the construction of the myth and how false it is. The phrase says so much about the con-Mark relationship, or, as PTB supposedly said, ”There’s a sucker born every minute, and two to take him.

never give money to natural disaster relief funds, most of the money never reaches the victims.

I give to either the Salvation Army, or Catholic Charities relief Fund.

I guess this is OT but it struck a nerve.

15. Another great disaster relief charity is Brother's Brother Foundation

I know this group personally because they are operating in Pittsburgh. It's a group of volunteer doctors, nurses and medical personnel who provided donated relief supplies and services to disaster victims in the US and around the world. It's very highly rated and this group has gone where some other groups can't or won't go. There's much more about that on their website.

I thought GoFundMe had closed it down as such months ago.

Well, thus is the plight of the low information Trump supporter.

A GoFundMe campaign raised $20 million for a border wall—now all of the funds will be returned

'In December, Brian Kolfage, a veteran and self-described motivational speaker, launched an ambitious GoFundMe campaign to raise $1 billion for the proposed wall. The campaign, titled "We The People Will Build the Wall," raised $20 million from 337,518 people in 25 days, and has been shared nearly 100,000 times.

But Business Insider reports that the funds will now be returned to donors. Bobby Whithorne, a GoFundMe spokesman, told the publication that Kolfage promised donors at the campaign's outset that donations would be used to fund the wall, if the proposed $1 billion was raised. "However, that did not happen," Whithorne said. "This means all donors will receive a refund."'

So, did GoFundMe not follow through by returning the funds?

Now that's funny! The only shocker here is how jaw-droppingly gullible the marks were. One expects even a Trump supporter to have the rudimentary critical thinking skills needed just to stay alive.

11. If I remember correctly, that campaign had a 7% donor-ratio.

Out of all the people who visited the Gofundme-site, only 7% actually donated. And as everybody donated just a few dollars, failure was inevitable.

This stood out to me

“I knew Brian had some previous shady gofundme campaigns,” Greene emailed. “I felt more confident when He brought on other big names to work with him, I haven't seen a tweet from ANY of them.”

Josh deserves to lose everything for being so fucking stupid.
