Rick Santorum is the GOP presidential candidate known for his Google problem. A Google search of his name returns scatological results thanks to a 2003 Google bombing by gay sex columnist Dan Savage. But the frothy mix associated with Santorum got pushed down in Google search results overnight thanks to his virtual tie with Mitt Romney in the Iowa caucus. Rick Santorum is currently the second most popular Google search term (after Iowa caucus results), and the number one hit for Rick Santorums name is, for the first time in a long time, not sex-related.
Here was the result page for Rick Santorum in September 2011 (via this blog). Warning if you have somehow not yet been exposed its gross:
Santorum has reportedly asked Google to eradicate the revolting search result to no avail. But his Iowa success, the resulting searches of his name, and people clicking on other sites besides SpreadingSantorum.com have helped to flush the frothy mix farther down the page:
A Wikipedia entry and Santorums own website surged to the top along with the candidate. The general Google rule of thumb is that people tend to click on the first or second link that comes up in a search.

Of course, contributing to Rick Santorum's Google problem would be beneath me...
