American Air CEO: 'We shall see' how to get customers on Max

The world’s largest airline is bracing for short-term passenger anxiety about flying on the Boeing Co. 737 Max, which was grounded in March after two deadly crashes in a five-month span.

“There may be some period of time” in which customers have misgivings, American Airlines Group Inc. Chief Executive Officer Doug Parker said in an interview with NBC, which will be aired in full late Wednesday. “But we’ll work through that.”

Airlines will soon face the delicate task of coaxing passengers back onto Boeing’s best-selling jet, once the aircraft is cleared to return to the skies. The planemaker is finalizing an update to software implicated in both accidents, and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is hosting global regulators at a meeting on Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas, to discuss next steps.

“What we need to do is have the airplane be deemed airworthy, be back in service, have American Airlines pilots flying,” Parker told NBC’s Lester Holt in a passage of the interview that the broadcaster tweeted. “I know that if that’s the case, the airplane’s 100% safe, as will most of our customers. And over time, others will see that and come to the same conclusion.”

American has 24 of the grounded jets with more on the way. The Fort Worth-based carrier has removed the plane from its schedule through Aug. 19, and there’s no timetable for the aircraft to reenter service.

Add dual sensors back and fix the software. Shit happens. Aviation history has a lot of errors. nt USALiberal May 2019 #2
Also train the pilots properly so they don't have to read the manuals while flying the plane. Initech May 2019 #10

That lead was definitely buried in the crash reports.

I hope Boeing realizes that selling these items as optional extras is going to cost them in the long run.

reminded why I love Jet Blue so much.
A nice Airbus plane and lovely crew, on time take off and early arrival both times.
At one point I had half a million American Airlines miles and now I cant remember the last time I flew AA now.
Take your Boeing Crashmaster 737 and shove it.
I don't fly nearly as much as I used to but it's Jet Blue for me now all the way as first choice.

Was pretty unimpressed.

Long Beach Airport is one of their hubs. The place resembles a seedy Greyhound terminal.

As to the Airbus Plane, when we got back to SeaTac they told all the passengers to move to the front of the plane because they couldn't get the exit door lined up with the ramp.

Never had that problem with any other airline.

I've flown Jetblue to Vegas and New York from there several times and it's one of the nicer airports I've been in.

Usually the pilot simply told passengers to exit through an alternative door and didn't explain why.

but you have to sign a waiver you can't not have any family members file lawsuits if you died cause Boeing had a bad.

Airbus works for me. To think years back I was worried about fly by wire.
