In reversal from 2016, McConnell says he would fill a potential Supreme Court vacancy in 2020

Raise your hand if you are shocked...

Speaking at a Paducah Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Kentucky, McConnell was asked by an attendee, "Should a Supreme Court justice die next year, what will your position be on filling that spot?"

The leader took a long sip of what appeared to be iced tea before announcing with a smile, "Oh, we'd fill it," triggering loud laughter from the audience.

If he lives until 2020, he thinks he will win again. That is a big if. He is the least popular senator in the nation. There are a lot of people that would contribute money to anyone who could unseat him.

Except right before inauguration. We will need something drastic like a long shutdown to force the issue.

I worry that the constitution and republican tribalism has become a suicide pact.

They openly flaunt and bend rules to their advantage.

We have presidential candidates doing the same with proposing dumping the legislative filibuster and packing the SCOTUS.

We have stalwarts in both camps calling for the arrest of opposition figures.

This could get ugly and I am ashamed by the polarization in this country

We had almost eight years where McConnell refused to let any democratic legislation move in the senate. His sole policy was to make Obama a one term president and when that failed still refused to allow any progress.

Judicial nominees were delayed and blocked setting up a generation swing in the justice system.

Boehner could have gotten a budget deal that put us on a reasonable fiscal path but refused at the end because he only got 98 percent of what he wanted.

The constitution and modern demographics makr it hard for democrats to get a majority let alone 60. 18 senators represent the majority of the country.

We are being ruled representatives elected by a minority of voters and that is projected to get worse.

800 prosecutors have said they would charge trump with obstruction and you want to blame Democratic leaders for calling for action? You think that we should stop passing laws and running an effective government until we get 60 senators or the republican party changes? Because that’s where we currently are and it’s not going to change for at least a decade.

“Both sides are bad” is lazy thinking at best.

no more filibusters.. we are a minority..can do nothing to stop him..

If we ever get a majority in both houses + presidency we need to impeach some of the current batch.
They were improperly placed and do not deserve to be there Gorsuch & BEEEEEER-boy

He made up an excuse out of whole cloth for not seating Obama's choice, and it was then debated like it was reasonable, like mcconnell actually believed it. What should have been discussed was his obvious and constant obstruction.

What's scary is he no longer feels the need to hide behind whole cloth excuses anymore.

a “Post turtle” ????

When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a “Post Turtle”.

You know he didn’t get up there by himself.

He doesn’t belong up there.

He’s elevated beyond his ability/integrity to function.

You know he's beholden to somebody.

AND, you just wonder what kind of corrupt dimwit put him up there in the first place.
