(4,387 posts)It's time to do the right thing. Stop the bullshit political calculus. Get all the evidence out there in the open so it can't be ignored without effort to ignore it. If Republicans still want to sweep it under the rug...get them on the fucking record about it.

(2,856 posts)And hoping the republicans will start to feel sad and find a conscience. What they'll actually do is wad it up, wipe their asses with it and flush it down the toilet. Then they'll continue laughing all the way to the bank.
Sorry for the cynicism but, until the Democrats in congress realize they're going to have to get dirty while cleaning up this mess it will only continue and it will get worse.

Great statement from Speaker Pelosi but about the election, the Cyber Security Department has been disbanded so how is that going to keep our elections safe from interference.

(51,690 posts)Regular House oversight hearings like we are doing now don't have a right to get grand jury info. But formal impeachment investigation hearings are considered judiciary in nature, and so fall under the exception to the rule that bars release of grand jury info.
We really need that info. We simply cannot recreate the 2 years of work that went into getting that info, even if we had the time, which we don't.

(28,811 posts)she's making the case.
how many ways can mcconnell drag his feet obstruct, refuse to call witnesses, etc? we should not underestimate how low he will go. By keeping the hearings in the House the people can hear the truth.
having said that i do believe that impeachment is inevitable, but as Pelosi says, the case has to be strong.

(1,702 posts)Is there a trial? We already know that regardless of the outcome the RePUBICs will not impeach or censor tRUMP....but what is the process? I believe that tRUMP will use the Senate as he's using Barr and DOJ to justify to his base & fringe cultists his innocence. Making it his "get out the vote" for tRUMP. We need America to see, since they will not read the Mueller report. (fyi; I have).

(15,650 posts)going to impeach the MF without saying we are going to IMTF.
Well done! Its exactly what Mueller did (said he committed high crimes without saying he committed high crimes).
Very soon, the Rs in both the House and the Senate will themselves be clamoring for impeachment
Thats what I think. TRump and the Rs right now, are not going to get their wish for a Senate vote against impeachment. Instead, he will see a vote for impeachment by the Senate. His illegitimate Presidency will suddenly be over.
A while back I was for impeachment.
Then I was against impeachment.
Now I'm for impeachment.
Nancy Pelosi is clearly at the top of her game, and I'm reasonably sure that she has a fairly well defined - for her and her close associates - a game plan. And if we had all the time in the world, I'd be happy to wait and see how it plays out, just for the opportunity to see the sheer brilliance of it. But we don't have all the time in the world. Mueller has said he has nothing more to say - read the report. I suppose in some sense we have been at a crossroads since the election. But it's getting worse and worse every day. Hearing after hearing, delay after delay is like death by a thousand cuts. But there's no death. Trump is still president, and people are still suffering. (Take a look at the NYT video piece today on what's going on at the border. It made me sick.) No one is being held in contempt of Congress. The Republicans are laughing. Whatever Pelosi's end game is, I would argue that it's time to put it into action.

(15,650 posts)and Mueller gave her the ammunition she needed to be able to apolitically do that today. I may be wrong but I feel this in my gut. And I have been for (and actually calling my delegation demanding) impeachment.
