Navy top officers struggling with how to handle a former governor ensnared in scandal

In January, an early assessment of whether the service should bring Greitens back on active duty prompted the senior officer in charge of recruiting, Rear Adm. Brendan McLane, to recommend against it.

“The sexual nature of the charges are not in line with our Navy Core Values, and the campaign finance violations not only do not inspire trust and confidence in his integrity, but also represent a real risk from a security clearance perspective,” McLane wrote.

Greitens was informed he would not be able to transition to active duty. He shared afterward that the charges had been dropped and asked if he could actively serve instead as a reserve intelligence officer, documents show.

If this loser was the lowest-ranked enlisted type, instead of an officer, would there be any doubt? RockRaven Jun 2019 #1

1. If this loser was the lowest-ranked enlisted type, instead of an officer, would there be any doubt?

Of course they would ditch him ASAP.

I know that there is some assumption that he has certain skills which the greenest of the green and uneducated newly-enlisted don't have, but come on...

If an anonymous peon would get sh*t-canned for a felony arrest and/or this kind of kompromat, then why is there any hesitation about what to do with him?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no... Goodbye!
