Contrary to the conventional wisdom, the Democrats did not win back the House or the Senate or the White House. But should they have?
In my opinion, the Democrats had the best unemployment rate in many years and the economy was doing very well. But, Gore was fearful of campaigning with Clinton because he felt the morality attacks against Clinton were something he could not defend. This hurt him and the Democratic Party.
So, the idea that impeachment hurt the Republicans is totally false, in my opinion.

(34,661 posts)That last day in Office set the Table for what we are experiencing today. What was the agreement that Clinton signed going out the door. We have yet to fully understand or see that agreement.

(2,787 posts)and had their own parallel scandals going on mix with toxic GOP policies like taking school lunch away from poor children. The Senate's trial did not happen until after the election and Clinton's approval rating went down after he was acquitted.
