They were safer on the ship than on the gangway!

I wonder if the injured were those who were actually on the gangway when the larger ship hit the smaller ship?

The smaller river cruise boat just barely missed being crushed like a can. In that case, remaining in the boat would have been bad. As it was, they were just able to get that boat underway so that it was pushed away from the dock by the liner.

Only luck kept this from being a major tragedy. That dock area is one of the sturdiest places in Venice proper. I go to Venice fairly often and see these enormous ships dangerously close all the time. The locals hate them. There have been several near misses of prominent, irreplaceable buildings during the last couple of years.

That poor tug was trying to stop the ship, be it never had enough power.

Yes, I know that comment didn't really add anything.

But this comment will help anyone that is reading this when they 'film' something on their phone (ok, it won't really help them, but it will be nice for the people watching the video):

HOLD THE PHONE SIDEWAYS!, or HORIZONTALLY, or in LANDSCAPE MODE, or whatever you want to call it.

There should be stiff criminal penalties for failing to shoot in landscape mode.

Do these people go to the movie theater and then cock their head to the side so it “looks right” to them?

What is wrong with these people?
