The privileges Donald Trump is being denied on his UK state visit

Donald Trump is missing out on privileges offered to other heads of state, including his predecessor Barack Obama, during his visit the UK.

Trump and First Lady Melania arrive on June 3 for a state visit. During his three-day visit, the president will attend a banquet at Buckingham Palace, have a private tea with Charles, lay a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey and attend events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

However, the US President has been denied additional perks attached to a state visit.

Unlike Obama, the current President has not been asked make an address in the Houses of Parliament.

He will also not participate in a carriage ride to Buckingham Palace, a decision attributed to ‘security concerns’.

And Mr Trump won’t stay in Buckingham Palace during his three-day visit due to renovation work.

If Princess Diana was still alive and she and Charles were still married, she would become the Queen when Elizabeth died, and then Queen Mother when William takes the throne.

As it stands, I don't know when the UK will have another Queen Mother with that title.

He loves Meghan and his new son so much. He will defend her to Trump's face and there is not a damn thing the Queen, Prince Charles, or Trump can do about it.

Trump attacks a Royal, Trump is persona non grata as far as the rest of the civilized world is concerned. Trump won't be able to live that humiliation down. Prince Harry will be be labeled a hero and even more popular with the British people.

... since the 1980s. I hope the tea turns nasty over Dumbasses denial of the settled science. And Charles can be quite a prick - and doesn’t suffer fools lightly. Although Trump is so stupid that he probably won’t recognize that Charles thinks he’s an idiot and is talking down to him. But I would pay good money to be a fly on the wall.

Please make room for another fly on the wall, too! God, I'd love to witness this encounter.
Thanks for mentioning Charles' environmental advocacy. IMHO, people focus too much on Charles' "uncoolness" (that is, traditional) style, and not enough on the fact that in some realms he's actually been a bit ahead of the curve. I've also noticed that he's been a consistent advocate for the environment for decades, and on all fronts, too (organic agricultural and gardening practices on his own property, no less; climate change, conservation, etc).
I have high hopes that he will be as condescending as possible with that piece of trash.

and, whoa! it's good! It's from April, 2017.

While President Obama chose not to ride in such a carriage during his U.K. visit, other world leaders — including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Chinese President Xi Jinping — have taken such carriage rides during state visits.

There's a pic at the link showing Putin in the carriage with the queen.

But it's not gonna happen! This historic carriage is only used for special-special occasions (like the Queen's Jubilee celebration) and it's not bullet-proof. It cannot hold up the extra weight of the President's bodyguards, etc. Not made for that, it would collapse for sure.

15. As Trump's state visit looms, Britain seems a reluctant host
Sun Jun 2, 2019, 07:47 PM
Jun 2019

Britain is gearing up for this week’s state visit by President Trump as only Britain can do. There will be an official greeting ceremony at Buckingham Palace, a lavish banquet with the queen’s best china, a gun salute fired from Green Park and the Tower of London.

It will all be suitably over-the-top.

But there is also a sense that British officials are slightly less than enthusiastic about this particular round of state visit grandeur.

Some of the traditional trappings — such as staying over at Buckingham Palace, a royal welcome at the Horse Guards Parade and a gold carriage procession down the Mall — are notably absent.

The British government, preoccupied with its own domestic turmoil, has long seemed wary about hosting Trump for a state visit.

For one thing, it took a long time to pencil a date in the diary.

Only a year earlier, Parliament had gone so far as to stage a formal debate over whether to ban Trump from setting foot on British soil. For three hours, lawmakers sounded off on a then-candidate they described as a racist, a misogynist and “a dangerous fool.”
