You need to read Tammy Duckworth's EPIC takedown of "#CadetBoneSpurs." I'm not kidding. EPIC.

Tammy Duckworth
@SenDuckworth

#CadetBoneSpurs: no one cares whether you were a “fan” of the Vietnam War. No one believes you were medically unfit to serve. You used your wealth & privilege to avoid serving your country five times, forcing another American to serve in your place each time. 1/

Kaitlan Collins
@kaitlancollins

President Trump’s full answer to Piers Morgan on avoiding serving in Vietnam: “This isn't like I'm fighting against Nazi Germany, we're fighting against Hitler. And I was like a lot of people. Now I wasn't out in the streets marching saying I'm going to move to Canada...”

Tammy Duckworth
@SenDuckworth

Now, you're stealing billions from @DeptofDefense's budget to fund a wall you promised Mexico would pay for. You're failing to support military families by taking away caregiver funding. You're kicking out Americans who *are* willing to serve only because they're transgender. 2/

Sane people aren't "fans" of war—only #StableGeniuses would even think that. I’ve met many #WWII #DDay Vets. None ever said they were fans of war. They simply answered their nation’s call, regardless of what they thought. Especially during the draft—it wasn’t optional for them 3/

These comments only make one thing clear: @realDonaldTrump got his deferments for the wrong thing. They shouldn't have been for his disappearing, imaginary bone spurs—they should have been for that yellow streak down his back. At least that would have been a real condition. 4/4

So while it's an obvious and accurate and plain-speaking take-down of Trump's non-military history, it was epic when Pete said it last week.

Good for her that she said it, too. It should be said repeatedly.

what "Mayor Pete said recently." But good for Buttigieg for addressing it as well. It certainly needs to be amplified.

"An Illinois Democrat who was seriously wounded in Iraq derisively referred to President Donald Trump's draft deferments after Trump called Democrats "treasonous" for not clapping during his State of the Union speech.

"We don't live in a dictatorship or a monarchy. I swore an oath—in the military and in the Senate—to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap," Sen. Tammy Duckworth tweeted Monday evening.

Duckworth, an Army veteran who lost her legs while serving in Iraq, appeared to be referencing Trump's draft deferments. Trump received five draft deferments throughout the Vietnam War, and on one occasion, Trump received a deferment because of bone spurs.
........

This isn't the first time Duckworth has pointed out Trump's draft deferments. Last month, she brought it up on the Senate floor.

"I spent my entire adult life looking out for the well-being, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible. I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft dodger," Duckworth said at the time.".....(more)

It's calling the bone spurs "faking disability" and "for someone to go in his place." That's the part I was referring to.

Calling out his draft dodging has been pointed out since his campaign by a lot of people.

Wed Jun 5, 2019, 11:42 PM

Trump tells us what he is - courageous, intelligent, good at leadership, good at global politics, a good businessman who drives a hard bargain.

He is none of those things, just the opposite on each point.

When asked for proof of his boasts and brilliance, he throws a twitter hissy fit. We are supposed to believe his words, not his actions. He wants us to follow him down the rabbit hole of self delusion.

The repugnant man-child really needs putting away somewhere, where he can do no harm, and the rest of humanity can forget he ever existed. Either prison or a coffin, I'm not choosy.

even though he is a putz in every way, I have to agree with him that Vietnam was a terrible blunder costing thousands of Americans and millions of South East Asians their lives. Meanwhile, the military industrial complex made trillions. It was a terrible time for us. Even if we were temporarily deferred, the specter of the draft hung over us. Well, for most of us. That's when we found our "side". [1968 says it all.]

The Senator is right that nobody can/should be a fan of any war. Because he is such a lummox he did not use, as he brags he knows; his best words, his beautiful words. But he is such a loathsome toad. And to think that millions voted for him and/or his ideas.

This man is taking from the military veterans to build his vanity project. [Ozymandias]. Because Mitch needs Trump so he and his un American Party can continue to stack the courts, nothing will be done and we will be doomed.

We no longer live in "The Golden Age" of American supremacy. Others have caught up and now compete on more even terms. Trump will ultimately cause our downfall earlier rather than later.

As Phil Ochs might sing: [Donald Trump] go find yourself another country to be a part of.
