Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe CBC coverage of D-Day Commemorations has been wonderful
Dignified, thoughtfully choreographed, inclusive, informative and heart tugging. They included an Indigenous drum group who played the Honor Song.
Now they are escorting the Veterans down to the beach. Sometimes I wonder how I can even make more tears.

(26,263 posts)I get the CBC via my cable provider, for which I am ever grateful. The CBC website might have something but I just don't know that the videos are accessible outside of Canada.

I wish Justin Trudeau was our president. He's not perfect, but he beats the hell out of the shitstain we have.

(102,283 posts)and of course the CBC reporters are finding what most of us know from our own family members (my Father & Uncles for ex): they really never talked about the horror or the war and few want to today. Commemorate the fallen, yes. But not relay the details of that service.
Seeing Trudeau--someone who knows the history and genuinely WANTS to be there...

(26,263 posts)He has his flaws, but all in all, he is very impressive.
And as for the CBC, they most certainly focused far more on the Veterans than on the national leaders. Which is how it should be.
