This is the essence of things, isn't it? The part that has bothered me most

In a "truly great nation" a transparent conman would have never won a party nomination, much less a general election.

We have to face it. We are no longer a truly great nation if Trump is the man we (and yes, I know, not all of us, but enough of us and our institutions) have chosen to lead us.
