Ex-President Jimmy Carter Says Trump Called Him to Discuss China

Former President Jimmy Carter, who was sidelined this spring by a broken hip, returned to teach Sunday school—and revealed that he recently spoke with President Donald Trump about China. “I was delighted, and I was surprised,” Carter said, explaining that he had sent Trump a letter about the U.S. relationship with China. “He was very gracious and expressed his appreciation for my letter. But the main purpose of his call was to say, frankly to me on a private line, that the Chinese were getting way ahead of the United States in many ways,” Carter said, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The 94-year-old said he told Trump: “China has not been in combat with anybody since 1949 and they spend on things good for the Chinese people.”

on a silver platter. When Fortune 500 CEO's close an American factory, and outsource production to China, which skirts environmental and labor laws, they get big fat bonuses. When Americans load up the shopping cart at WalMart with shoddy, cheap Chinese made crap, they complete the process.

It's carnivore capitalism that has made China a world powerhouse instead of the basket case it was in the 1960's, and we have sold them the rope to hang us with.

My understanding is they make deals that give majority ownership to Chinese interests. That's as bad or worse than very high taxes. They do it for the slave wages.

China isn't pouring money into wars and occupations, but instead is using its national wealth to do things for its own people. How does that stuff more money into the pockets of wealthy people, and keep the poor suitably impoverished? Aren't they worried that their people will grow dependent on receiving due recompense for their labor and having a pathway to increased prosperity?

I suspect we'll hear from you know how that this is fake news. He doesn't need Carter's advice, or anyone else's. He has his gut and he knows that he loves Xi and Xi loves him.
