.
On Monday, Alex Jones far-right conspiracy website InfoWars settled a lawsuit against cartoonist Matt Furie.
Furie is the creator of Pepe the Frog, which has been used for far-right campaigns and messaging.
Furie has since tried to regain control over the characters image, pursuing legal action against a series of websites, a report from The Daily Beast said. The InfoWars lawsuit, filed last year, centered on a poster sold by InfoWars featuring Pepe alongside Trumpworld personalities like Roger Stone, InfoWars founder Alex Jones, and pundits Diamond & Silk.
The lawsuit settled with $15,000 being paid out to Furie.
From our perspective, we got everything we wanted, Louis Tompros, one of the attorneys representing Furie pro bono told The Beast.

(25,941 posts)1. I wish this could happen
every time some RW asshole appropriated intellectual property. They think they're sofa king smart, why don't they come up with their own stuff instead of stealing from others?

(25,941 posts)5. Correct
I'm guilty too, but I'm not trying to make money off SNL...or using Rolling Stones spngs at fundraising events like the deadbeat-in-chief.

They would be no more.

(61,900 posts)6. In Trumpian fashion, InfoWars is claiming a "strategic victory" because the settlement was small.
The only win for these a--holes was their getting away with using stolen property as long as they did.
I wish Matt Furie the best in taking Pepe back from these far-right sh--heads.
