Trump Falsely Claims He Has Wiped Out 150% Of China's Economy

Trump Falsely Claims He Has Wiped Out 150% Of China’s Economy

He gloated China’s economy has lost up to $20 trillion in value since his election. If true, that would have wiped China off the economic map.

By Mary Papenfuss

<snip>

The Chinese economy is worth an estimated $13 trillion (it was $12.2 trillion in 2017, according to the World Bank). To wipe out 150% of China’s GDP would erase the country from the world economy and would be pretty ― incredible.

Contrary to Trump’s whopper, the Chinese economy has continued to expand over 6% a year since he was elected.

The Trump trade war is hurting the Chinese economy, because tariffs make Chinese products more costly and less competitive in the American market. But because U.S. companies and consumers pay the cost of tariffs on imported goods, the trade war also hurts America’s GDP (which, incidentally, is $20 trillion). Numbers vary, but estimates for GDP costs in both nations are generally less than 1%.

Before citing a specific figure for China’s losses, Trump said earlier in the CNBC interview that China has “lost many, many trillions of dollars.”

You can check out the entire interview in the video above. (Trump refers to the amount of money he has cost China at 26:05.)

Then the U.S. would be in economic turmoil at this very moment. The U.S. economy would be in total meltdown.

But what am I thinking? "If what Trump is saying is true"........ NOTHING Trump says is true! It's a sad commentary on the U.S. educational system that 40% of Americans listen and believe anything this piece of shit says.

And his daily claims and accusations are being accepted less and less now. They aren't working for him anymore. His numbers of lies still keep increasing to cover other lies , and to distract with. More and more people are realizing he is a serial liar and a crook, and are running from him and the GOP because of it. They'll always be some who still believe Mexico will pay for his wall, and he'll have a much better health care plan, and cover pre existing conditions while they fight to prevent them., and make them pay for a wall by taking more away from their Social Security, and Medicare, and Medicaid. The exodus is about to begin. That's why trump's acting out , and is so desperate, he knows it too.

31. Is This a Sign of Confusion
Thu Jun 13, 2019, 12:32 PM
Jun 2019

Is his claim that China has lost $15-$20 trillion dollars worth of its value since he took office a sign of confusion? The article pointed out that the United States' GDP is $20 trillion. Did he confuse the United States' GDP with the amount of money he thinks his policies have cost China, or did he just decide to use $20 trillion because it was a bigger number and he thought that sounded better?

Why didn't any of the hosts challenge him on this issue? I assume they either know that information is false, or think the information is false. Is the fact that he (Trump) will not be challenged another reason he promotes false numbers?
