(9,118 posts)I thought that way through the Reagan Years, gave George HW BUSH one chance and was cured of that delusion.
That old reasonable Republican Party that may have once existed has been dead since Newt Gingrich ascended to power. Thats over a quarter-century ago. The few remaining reasonable Republicans that lingered were holdovers from better days. Theyre all gone nowdead, retired, sidelined, primaried, and thinking theyll ever come back is folly.
I hope that if the good guys (aka Team Donkey) win in 2020, they dont fall prey to that folly. President Obama FHAs that illusion; I hope the next Democratic President sees more clearly.

(9,118 posts)if its a choice between Joe Biden and some Simon-pure but uncharismatic candidate whod at best best Orange Julius in a squeaker election by 0.02 percent and at worst LOSE by a heartbreaking five percent, I will vote for the man or woman who can assuredly trounce Number 45. I want to save the country. I want to WIN!!!
