because of the blockage/obstruction in the Senate by Mitch McConnell and the Repugs of all the legislation passed by the House since the election.
Why aren't we hearing from them? Why isn't McConnell's blocking of this legislation the topic of each press conference held by Nancy Pelosi? Why isn't AOC taking on Mitch? What about the other 100 new freshmen in the House?
As a House Representative you only get a 2 year term. We're in the middle of their term and all the hard work that they have been doing for the American People that elected them is being held hostage by Mitch McConnell and the Repugs.
In fact, McConnell, the Repugs and Trump are saying that the Dems are not doing anything but investigating the Mueller Report which Mitch is saying is old business. Soon those same 101 new Freshmen Congressional Reps will be having to campaign for their next term and they've let Mitch and the Repugs control the narrative.
I've posted on DU before that the Dems should take every chance they get to tell the American People where the obstruction is occurring. Why don't we hear from these newly elected Representatives? Why aren't they raising hell?
Why doesn't the MSM put a focus on all legislation passed by the House that is being obstructed in the Senate? Why do we keep seeing McConnell lying to the American People on the cable shows? Why isn't the MSM taking Mitch to task on this?
I just don't get it. Why aren't we putting the pressure on Mitch and keeping the pressure on him?

This is quite a list. I know that I wasn't aware of all this work the Dem House has done. This has not been communicated to the American People in any appreciable way. We haven't heard of this body pf work from the Dems or from the MSM. Why not?

(39,374 posts)Oh, I know, we're not supposed to "bash" Democrats, but there is such a thing as legitimate criticism. No one with the slightest combination of knowledge and objectivity would accuse Pelosi and Schumer of being effective communicators in the Age of Trump. Believe it or not, there are even whole articles about this:
...Another recurring, futile trope is the theatrical performance of hope that Republicans are about to begin respecting civic ideals. (Narrator: They arent.) On the March day that Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson via tweet and news broke that a woman whod helped cover up torture would be nominated to run the CIA, Schumer announced that he hoped new Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would turn over a new leaf in U.S. diplomacy. (He hasnt.) Pelosis statement complained that Tillerson had been treated in humiliating fashion, as if the personal feelings of an oil executive whod signed on to carry out the whimsical demands of an idiot president are of any concern to anyone. Both statements seemed more directed to imaginary sympathetic Republicans in the Trump administration than to the general public, much less to potential Democratic votersand as Splinters Libby Watson noted, neither mentioned torture.
...The national partys stale sloganeering seems closely linked to its strategic tendency toward borderline-comical caution and overestimation of Republican good faith. In April, when media reports indicated Trump may have been planning to fire Robert Muellers boss and protector, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, National Journal reported that Virginia Sen. Mark Warnerthe vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committeehad told his fellow Democrats that, in the event Rosenstein were fired, the party should withhold comment until a one- or two-day cooling-off period had passed, during which they could organize bipartisan opposition. (Warners staff denies that he said this.) The DNC, for its part, suggested in distributed talking points that Democratic media surrogates respond to another Mueller-firing rumor by stating, It is time for the GOP to draw a line in the sand and make clear that any attempt by Trump to fire Mueller would cross a red line.

Democrats have been having conversations with themselves about the better angels of Republican nature for far too long. It needs to stop. And yet, many are invested in a front runner who's repeating the same mistake. At some point, I would stop blaming our leaders and start questioning our voters.
