(269,063 posts)Now it's time for the Japanese PM to tell the world that the Con lied about that Nobel prize nomination.
Why the fuck would a Japanese ship be attacked by Iran while the Japanese PM was visiting Iran - How the fuck does that make sense people?
This is worse BS than Bush and Cheney's lies about Iraq.
But the corporate media will play along because profits and imperial interests matter more than human lives.
It's all BULLSHIT!! And this is amateur BULLSHIT.

(24,415 posts)should be VERY skeptical of any claims about Iran. Not saying that they're (Iran) saints by any means but Bolton (and probably Pompeo) are jonesing for a war/conflict with Iran and the decision to rip up the Iran Nuclear Agreement was likely purposely meant to antagonize Iran and potentially lead to a conflict with them (this is one reason why treaties help prevent war/conflict).

(6,594 posts)Our press has done a huge disservice by not reporting on the PNAC & their agenda. In 2000 they wrote about how they wanted to "transform the Middle East" by invading & overthrowing Iraq & Iran but they needed "some catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor" to use as an excuse to invade Iraq. Ever wonder why they demoted Clarke (author of the Aug 6 PDB warning of a bin Laden attack) & ignored all the other warnings that 9/11 was coming? Because they needed a "new Pearl Harbor" to carry out their attack on Iraq. 9/11 was their new Pearl Harbor.
The PNAC cabal (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Bolton, & many more) weren't able to finish the job under Bush so Bolton is picking up where they left off ... war with Iran.

(9,090 posts)again will play an important part in selling the bullshit.
but, no one who would oppose attacking iran has any clue what they're selling and how often.
i can guarantee that if trump's braintrust limbaugh was against attacking iran (as opposed to spending the last couple of decades screaming about how evil they are) there would be no chance of one.
and if there is an attack instead of protesting capitols americans need to start protesting the radio stations that are selling and pre-excusing the next war, and the 88 universities that endorse 260 limbaugh stations - rather than wasting time protesting capitols that republicans can ignore because the protestors get yelled over by a few hundred coordinated chickenhawks with a lot more volume.

(11,885 posts)Under oath to either admit he's lying about this now, or lie some more. This should be considered a high crime trying to falsely promote a war by doing this. Republicans are in deep trouble the longer they stay with this illegitimate president.

(18,636 posts)Anything he says now is subject to a much deeper burden of proof. Just like the boy who repeatedly cried fire, we'll have to actually feel the heat ourselves before the world at large will get behind him and take action.
I honestly believe a unilateral attack on Tehran would push most republicans toward impeachment. He better come up with a more harmless distraction. I'm fucking lookin' right at you Bolton.

(1,402 posts)DJT has been trying to start a war with Iran ever since he's been in office. For one thing, he knows if he does start one, it will be impossible to get him out of office till the day the war is over and that could be years!! What 'big money' is pushing him for this? Putin, Saudi's, Koch Bros, I would like to know and he knows it will benefit him financially and keep him in office!! I grow more disgusted every single day. What won't he try?

Wonder who fired the missiles? Could it be us?
We have a long, dishonorable history of false flag operations. Bay of Pigs, Gulf of Tonkin...
Trumpie wants himself a war. What better way to get it?
Edit: I confused the Bay of Pigs with the pretext for our starting the Spanish American warthe blowing up of the battleship Maine in Havana harbor.
We blamed the Spanish without much to go on. So, in essence, a false justification for war.
The 2nd reference is to the Gulf of Tonkin. This was turned into a major provocation when it was most likely some over zealous NV sailors.
Guess Im using the wrong term.
What Im pointing out is that the US has often used minor incidents where clear responsibility cannot be established to impute blame on nations that we wanted to go to war with.
Not sure there is a nice, catchy term to use. Bet most readers knew exactly what I was trying to say.

(8,203 posts)The US had also recently deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the Strait of Hormuz in response to a "number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings" from Iran, a US official with direct knowledge of the situation told CNN at the time.
Just how many destroyers and battleships and subs come along with a strike group...
The Carrier Strike Group (CSG), composed of roughly 7,500 personnel, an aircraft carrier, at least one cruiser, a flotilla of six to 10 destroyers and/or frigates, and a carrier air wing of 65 to 70 aircraft.
A carrier strike group also, on occasion, includes submarines, attached logistics ships and a supply ship. The carrier strike group commander operationally reports to the commander of the numbered fleet, who is operationally responsible for the area of waters in which the carrier strike group is operating.
That's some kind of SMALL, so called Iranian boat, pulling SOMETHING from a tanker...now, just how do you suppose it got through....

We have been in too many wars for no good reason, other than fake ones put forth by corrupt politicians.
It's particularly odd timing especially when you see Bibi of Israel facing corruption charges in Israel and rump facing a swell of domestic opposition that is growing in strength, with calls for his impeachment growing louder by the day.
Also funny that Jared the corrupt SIL somehow miraculously received a $90,000,000 lifeline to save his companies from some nefarious entity (unknown). If this isn't a violation of the emoluments provision, what is?

Trump is doing his damnedest to get us into a war with Iran, just to divert attention from his own crimes. those of us with loved ones in the military have seen this before (with Iraq in 2002).
