The videos, 2 different people,so 2 angles, cause a cop point a weapon at a woman holding a 1yr old is nausea producing.

"My hands are up! My hands are up!" 22yo Dravon Ames says as a Phoenix police officer yells to "get your fucking hands up." The same officer later says "You're gonna fucking get shot!"
Ames says the officers stopped him after his child walked out of a Dollar Store with a doll. https://t.co/Nlkd7IXsyc

(18,770 posts)Was the person armed or something? If not, then there is zero excuse to point a firearm with live rounds at an unarmed man holding a child. If I were the victim, I'd sue the fuck out of them!

He told her to put the baby on the ground, which she was unwilling to do because the baby could not walk, and the ground consisted of hot pavement," the notice of claim states.
I know, hard to imagine a cop being brutal...( )

(9,895 posts)IF you truly support the police, then when assholes like these are caught on film being assholes, you cut them loose and make them pay for their actions.
You don't excuse them because its "a hard job".
You don't ignore the fact that this happens disproportionally to minority 'suspects'.
You don't blame the victim as a way to excuse such aberrant behavior.
You speak up loudly and clearly and demand those officers lose their jobs and are prevented from any future role in law enforcement as they are 100% unfit for duty or to carry a firearm with authority to kill.
I am tired of seeing these kind of videos and the only solace here (at all) is that these people were not the latest victims to die at the wrong end of an over zealous, bigoted policeman's gun.

(82,849 posts)Here's what I'm thinking as the taping begins. You can hear the cops, clearly ready to rumble, yelling and swearing, and the person with the camera approaches cautiously (as he or she should). Considering the stories of people getting shot while holding a cell phone, taping this was an act of bravery comparable to any soldier at war charging an entrenched position. Except the camera operator isn't armed, and isn't being backed up by the rest of his armed squad.

snip--Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams posted a video to Facebook on Friday afternoon reacting to what happened.
"I, like you, am disturbed by the language and the actions of our officer," said Williams in the video.
She said an internal investigation is underway
"I stand by my commitment of transparency and accountability as we continue to complete this internal investigation," said Williams."
This will not be going away quietly
