The conditions described by doctors, lawyers and others who have witnessed first-hand the camps holding detained asylum seekerssleeping on bare concrete, deprivation of food, sleep, hygienic conditionsare techniques of torture and, whatever the opinions of a Cheney or a Yoo, are against United States law and treaties of which the US is signatory .
So, Im sorry you got so upset when it was pointed out, correctly, that the US is now running concentration camps, but, as it becomes clear what is going on in those camps, every supporter of the current administration must be made to answer:
Why do you support torturing children?
Why do you support torturing children?
Stop torturing children.

(53,410 posts)Being ignorant of how history actually plays out can be fixed.
The Holocaust Museum claims it can happen again, to any group. Or is there something specific that needs to happen to convince some people that a group of people are deliberately being treated in cruel and inhuman ways, though they have broken no law? What does it take to convince? How bad does it have to get?

(24,324 posts)to the concentration camps during WW2-- relatives, friends, etc. Some expressed the fact that there is not mass intentional murder happening here...but I would add...not MASS, and YET.
So I can certainly understand their emotional connection, and their "taking offense,' or umbrage, at the current situation being compared to Nazi concentration camps.
Nevertheless, these ARE, by any definition, just that.

(53,410 posts)I havent seen any believable exit plan for those children. When will the children be released? Obviously not when their parents claim them because the children have been forcibly taken from said parents in the first place. And the parents, seeking our governments help are being held also, like criminals.
On the contrary, our government is privatizing the treatment of these children, opening long abandoned internment camps, building camps far away in the desert, difficult to access and which are off limits to everyone, run by cruel people whom our government picks. People who apparently have the permission to punish them at will, with no justification. People who think its their right to abuse and mistreat children. Children who are lost in the Trump system. Who can't be found.
What does Trump plan for these childrens future? They arent keeping track of the family ties, so who are they going to give the children to?
If children are denied the most basic needs which are fundamental to health how long before they start dying of contagious diseases? Especially when their health is in the hands of jailers who deny them fundamental hygiene tools. What is the purpose of rushing disease on these children?
What is Trumps end game. What does he plan to do?

(53,410 posts)Interestingly enough their grandmothers, the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, were the ones who asked doctors to find their grandchildren through Genetic testing. I saw a documentary many years ago that claimed it had never been done before. This group of grandmothers, who were the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo is still active today.

(7,888 posts)It seems like I get stuck in the research phase and et viola.
I have been doing some personal research of religious organizations looking for published articles, speeches or other actions from their leadership. Checked Rome, nada word, and down my list I go, looking for any sign any church has done anything for our precious children. If they don't stand to defend the children then they will never stand for anything. imo

(23,743 posts)If any parent had done these things they would be arrested and the children taken away from them. Trump and all those who have a hand in this disgrace and abuse should be arrested. No congressional hearings, just outright arrested by the police forces in whatever local this is happening.
To not do so is a dereliction of duty by those municipalities.

(4,694 posts)someone has to get out photos and video of these kids and the conditions they're living in. It's one thing to read about these horrors but it's another thing to see it.
TV coverage helped swing public opinion to end the Viet Nam war by bringing it into people's living rooms. Photos and video would help end this outrage.
