Anyone else here not give a shit about EITHER convention?

We know who the candidates are.

The biggest reason for these conventions is for lobbyists to throw money around.

The debates, and the actual election are what I'm interested in.

I seemed to have reached outrage and political burnout. I am taking time to be out in nature as much as possible and am avoiding the convention right now and happy to be doing so. I have no interest in the upcoming one either. I guess I am just feeling tired of it all. Wrung out.
What did it for me was receiving an email from an old friend with the most hateful right wing stuff in it about people on welfare. It was the last straw. It hurts my heart to really believe someone can be so hateful and to be proud to broadcast it to the world. It is totally beyond me and I think it was the last straw for me for now. I don't know how I will feel in a few weeks.

Where hopefully Romney will burry himself under an avalanche of lies.

To my shock and surprise. As you said, these things are utterly scripted..,still Ron Paul folks managed a tiny bit of fireworks.

As well as celebrate Obama's historic first term and lay out his agenda and vision for a second term without little sound bites or canned ads. We see Obama and Biden up close and letting loose. Bring it on!

It is nice to hear someone who can actually speak well. I cringed every time George W. Bush spoke, not just because of what he was saying but how he said it. Obama is a joy to listen to. I may very well watch just to hear him.

The convention and the ads are nothing more than infomercials. We haven't heard any real policy talk yet. I too am looking forward to the debates.

For instance, I remember when Obama spoke at the 2004 Democratic Convention, it was immediately clear that he'd be the next Democratic candidate for the Presidency-- or at least, one of the "viable candidates".

It wasn't what he *said* that made it so clear, but the uniform response from the corporate media. They all loved it. As soon as I saw that, I knew the establishment considered him a safe proposition.
