I’m almost tempted to believe in a deity.

Seriously, my heart is with CA and whomever this might have harmed. So far seems not too bad.

a pretty big quake, but centered in a sparsely populated area so there's not too much injury or damages. Just enough to get the talking heads distracted and talking about someplace other than DC for a while!

(I was here for Loma Prieta in 1989 - and 6.6 is what I consider a major quake)

An earthquake in a part of the country that's prepared for it isn't the huge disaster it can be in other places. With any luck, it won't have caused any serious damage.

I was talking to her about plans for the day when she started telling me about the pool out front shaking. Then her apartment started shaking and she asked me what to do.

Shot I don't know, but as her Dad, I told her to get in the bathtub. She's on the 2nd floor and I'm thinking the 2nd floor is not the safest place to be in an earthquake. It stopped soon after but she decided to go outside the next time it happens. It's an older building that's been there since the 1960 s. It's survived many earthquakes.

There seems to be no good response for an earthquake.

Be safe everyone. We love you LA.

you want something between you and falling ceiling tiles, plaster, lamps, etc. A reinforced doorway is also a good spot to be - but stay clear of windows.

Seem to recall reports that, on his radio show, he implied that the Obama Administration had access to weather disturbing technology that was causing tornadoes and earthquakes in red flyover states.

Certainly that "technology" must still exists. And obviously the control room for it is in Nancy Pelosi's basement. Now, as for the earthquake in California, remember it occurred in a Republican district. Coincidence? The tea party thinks not!

(Actually saying "the tea party thinks not" kind of describes that gaggle of anti-reason science-denying ignoramuses to a "T", now I think of it!)
