(90,738 posts)From Adelanto to Watsonville, from Livermore Labs to Huntington Beach, Castro Valley, and Fresno -- dozens of spots on the list, some named as detention centers, some county jails, some offices, and some just public spaces often used for protests, like Santa Barbara County Courthouse.
If I don't have a ride to the ICE office in Camarillo, I'll swing by the Ventura County Govt Center -- it's only a few miles from my home and the large campus occupies a busy corner, making it a favorite place for protests. There might or might not be something going on there. If there is, I'll join them.
I'm sick of the usual suspects at DU claiming "no one is doing anything" and "why aren't there people protesting right at the detention centers?" I just want to tell them: "Open your eyes Jack, and join the fck up."

I posted about this back in June. Few read it.
Kick and highly recommended.
I have one so close to me, yet can't make it. I am doing elder care, mom, solo this week.
I will light a candle.

(51,613 posts)I just checked out many of the places where vigils are planned and at least half are not near actual detention centers. I even saw a couple to be held in the daytime, like there is in Phila at 11:30 AM on Fri.

(90,738 posts)I did not go to their FB site, but just that much gave me what I needed to go on. My own state, and a town near me. I looked at the maps in my cell phone; pre-cell phone I would have used Google maps on my computer; before that I would have hauled out a phone book and a folding map.
You want a map of all the detention centers? Somehow I get the feeling Homeland Security and the private for-profit corporations involved don't want you to know and don't make that information easy to get. A network of journalists and volunteers have no doubt gotten us this far...
