Organized crime has played a role in warfare historically and that is what the Russia's doing with this criminal network; under their so-called Gerasimov doctrine...the election hacking, social media manipulation, cyber-warfare, Russian biker gangs and illegal immigration, the use of Vagner Group and the blending of intelligence and criminal networks. This has been largely a "soft power" war thus far, and that perhaps most of all has been to Russia's advantage.
