AOC Calls Out Pelosi's 'Pattern' of Singling Out Women of Color But Insists Speaker's not Racist

AOC Calls Out Pelosi’s ‘Pattern’ of Singling Out Women of Color But Insists Speaker is ‘Absolutely Not’ Racist

By Ken Meyer Jul 11th, 2019, 11:24 am

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is keeping the feud with Nancy Pelosi going, because on Thursday, she defended her comments about how the house speaker is “outright disrespectful” to her and “newly-elected women of color.”

Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez have been ad odds with each other ever since the former dismissed the clout of the congressional left-wing, and the two have clashed on whether Democrats need to start acting more progressively. Ocasio-Cortez took things up a notch on Wednesday when she said in an interview that Pelosi’s attitude to the progressive wing “got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful…the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.”

CNN’s Manu Raju asked Ocasio-Cortez to elaborate on Thursday, and she said she was “pointing out a pattern” about how Pelosi refers to her colleagues.

However, Ocasio-Cortez also says she doesn’t think Pelosi is racist.

Respond and she said it had nothing to do with racism, it had to do with the many death threats that the “squad” have been getting. Omar is called a terrorist on Fox.

Pelosi is mad because the squad voted against the border funding bill, well it sure looks like Trump is going to use some of that money for Sunday’s Ice raids.

I was one once, too, but I wasn't trying to run the world, I was sitting in the back yard reading long books and drinking iced tea, and listening to music playing out of my bedroom window on speakers.

I also worked on a bunch of political campaigns and at all the Democratic booths at the county fair, but I mostly remember just lounging around waiting for things to happen.

"AOC Calls Out Pelosi's 'Pattern' of Singling Out Women of Color But Insists Speaker's not Racist"

1. "singling out women of color"

2. "speakers not racist"

AOC makes two accusations here. Only one of these statements can be true as one cancels out the other.

Attacking other Dems on social media and now implying that the long-time liberal from the most progressive region in the effin country, the Bay Area, and with people of color all over the Speaker's leadership group is racist is gonna get her primaried.

Learn how to work in Congress for God's sake. Forge alliances to create a power block of reps/votes who can go to the Speaker and say "we can defeat this bill if we don't get concessions." And it's going to take more than four rookies, and should include some not as far left to add credibility.

Gotta learn to work with people not just complain all the time.

20. Incoming! "Democratic lawmaker unloads on Ocasio-Cortez, for 'using the race card'"

Jul 2019

Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) unloaded on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday for "using the race card” after Ocasio-Cortez accused Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of being racially insensitive.

Clay, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, fumed at Ocasio-Cortez and the group of progressive lawmakers that includes Reps. Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.) and Ayanna Pressley (Mass.)

“What a weak argument, because you can’t get your way and because you’re getting pushback you resort to using the race card? Unbelievable. That’s unbelievable to me,” Clay said. “I could care less. I could really care less. I agree with the Speaker. Four people, four votes out of 240 people, who cares.”

Reminds me of Winnie Mandela when the ANC finally took over in South Africa she kept up her attacks on the government as that was all she knew how to do.

Continuing to attack the Speaker and other Dems is a deadend.

I wish you anti AOC people watched it. Nicolle said it, part of the feud is over the handling of the border crisis. AOC was opposed to the border funding bill. Guess what, Trump is going to use money from that border bill to send Ice agents to Chicago to a day care center to arrest a child, or worse arrest the parents and orphan the child. I got in trouble here because I said that Democrats aren’t doing enough, the same thing that AOC is saying. All of you let’s wait Democrats watch the Ice raids this Sunday, watch as we, yes we, orphan children.

she could've went to the Speaker with actual leverage that could've torpedoed that bill if it wasn't changed.

IMO in six months in office a lot of that time has been spent battling with the Speaker and other Dems on social media and in the corridors of the House as she did today by accusing Pelosi of singling out the four progressive women of color. When asked if she was accusing the Speaker of bias she said "of course not."

Well which is it? That was a verbal oxymoron—she insinuated the speaker is a racist one minute and in the next second when challenged she says of course the Speaker isn't racist.

I want her to learn to use her considerable gifts to wield what power she can actually gather around her in the House and cut down on the bashing of the Speaker and other Dems. She'll be much more effective that way.
