President Donald Trump is expected to announce later Thursday he is backing down from his effort to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census, and will instead take executive action that instructs the Commerce Department to obtain an estimate of U.S. citizenship through other means, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

It seems to me he is going to go ahead with his executive order. IMO, that's a much more dangerous course of action. And the statement that he is "ending the fight" is misleading and untrue.

10. I think that's right. He blusters and threatens but eventually

he folds like a cheap lawn chair when he figures out (or someone tells him) that he's likely to fail. Since the worst thing in the world for him is the appearance of failure, he will then give up, pretend he didn't give up, and throw out more chaff and countermeasures that don't fool anyone.
