Between his idiotic comment about the Democrats who voted for the relief bill and his asinine move to wear a shirt with the picture of a nazi collaborator on it she needs to issue a statement, preferably saying he is gone. If there is no statement at all I will have assume she supports his actions.

(5,537 posts)Saikat Chakrabarti didn't compare the majority of House Democrats to segregationalists? Maybe he didn't really wear a shirt with the image of Subhas Chandra Bose on it, that'sounds all a Jewish conspiracy right?

(43,545 posts)I might wager that all 4 of 'The Squad' see primary opponents.
Rashida Tlaib was already primaried in 2018 via a sore loser run by Brenda Jones, who she eeked out a win over in the main election (Jones had barely beat her in the special election to fill the vacancy after Conyers stepped down over sex harrasment allegations). I think Jones will try again in 2020, if not her someone else.

Ilhan Omar could also be primaried in 2020
Will a Democrat try to make history against Ilhan Omar in 2020?

Michael Capuano might try to take back his seat from Ayanna Pressley (it is one of the bluest in the nation). Or someone else could try.
and finally
AOC
she is probably untouchable now (althogh Crowleys poltical family I am sure are strategising how one of them or their allies could do it)
BUT
(unless Schumer is paranoid about an ousted AOC running against him)
watch New York try and redistrict her out, post 2020 (after the new census)
Tlaib and Omar are the most vulnerable atm.
If Pelosi wants all 4 gone, I would be shocked if there are not huge behind the scenes actions to make that happen (AOC will be the hardest by far, it will probably have to come via a redistrict action)

(13,501 posts)I don't even think Gillibrand would be.
NY enjoys that Schumer is the Senate Minority leader. I don't think the entire state would vote for her. If it were a state-wide battle rather than a district-wide battle, it's a different thing entirely.

(43,545 posts)Cuomo hates her, so he will be all down to do the dirty dirty.
My biggest fear is that (if it is handled in a really bad way) it might really suppress the under 40 vote for us nationally, and will (this I say with more certainty) quite possibly set up an all-out schism that will lead to the AOC/Bernie left (and there are multiple millions of them) just going straight-up scorched earth out of vengeance and play open (and covert) pure wreckage games.

(58,785 posts)That Obama settled many tens of thousands of Somalis there, enough to stack the electorate for a Somali candidate, is a RW lie.
MN 5 is heavily white, and Omar was endorsed by the DFL and elected primarily by their white liberal Democrats because they're typically liberally open and inclusive, and of course because she's pretty and charming. Liberal doesn't exactly mean a district full of far-left extremists -- those are mercifully only fringe elements virtually everywhere.
I've read the mood there, including among many of her Jewish constituents, is liberal tolerance rather than the hair-on-fire reactions pushed by the media, so that's definitely on her side. But she needs to watch her behavior and not do anything to change their image of her.

I am also Jewish and have watched how antisemitism has become more and more acceptable in on the far left.
I look in terror at what has happened it the Labour Party in the UK and am worried about the same thing happening to the party I have spent my life in service of.

(47,537 posts)AOCs Chief of Change
On a Wednesday morning in late May, emissaries of two of the strongest political voices on climate change convened at a coffee shop a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Saikat Chakrabarti, chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), was there to meet Sam Ricketts, climate director for Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), who is running for president almost exclusively on a platform of combating global warming. A newly released plank of Inslees climate change agenda had caught the attention of Chakrabarti and his boss, who had tweeted that Inslees climate plan is the most serious + comprehensive one to address our crisis in the 2020 field. Pleased by the positive reception from the demanding Green New Deal wing of the climate struggle, Ricketts had set up this meeting with Chakrabarti to establish a personal connection and share approaches to climate advocacy.
(snip)
Chakrabarti had an unexpected disclosure. The interesting thing about the Green New Deal, he said, is it wasnt originally a climate thing at all. Ricketts greeted this startling notion with an attentive poker face. Do you guys think of it as a climate thing? Chakrabarti continued. Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.
