Let's not call each other names

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1150198525822754819.html

1. The infighting in the Democratic Party right now can all be traced back to the decision NOT to impeach Trump

Why aren't Democrats unified and focused on opposing Trump?

Because Democratic leadership decided opposing Trump shouldn't be the focus of this Congress

2. If the House was impeaching Trump right now, the focus would be on Trump and his crimes, not tactical differences among Democrats

Also, impeachment is the biggest tactical disagreement in the party now. If leadership endorsed impeachment, there would be much less daylight

3. The decision from House leadership to protect Trump from impeachment (and, in a related move, not use all the tools available to get Trump's tax returns) is mystifying

I'm surprised it hasn't generated more public criticism from within the Party

4. Pelosi doesn't impose impeachment because she wants to protect Trump. She opposes impeachment because she thinks its a political loser.

Still, as a practical matter, she is protecting him all the same. Trump appears to appreciate it.

5. Feel free to disagree with me on any of this, BTW. Disagreement isn't bad. It's how you sharpen your ideas

Let's not call each other names. But let's also not just repeat talking points like "WE WILL FIGHT FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS" and think that is a healthy political discussion

for white liberals.

All this back and forth is getting to cray cray levels and needs to stop before we have a full blown internecine civil war.

A senior House Democratic aide said:

“She’s only a woman of color when it’s convenient. None of the things she’s fought for aligned with communities of color and her group is funded only by elitist white liberals; she’s a puppet,” the top Democratic aide told The Hill in a phone call.

The aide then texted an image of a Goomba puppet from the Super Mario Bros. video game.
