But Epstein's lawyers say he has scrupulously followed the terms of his 2008 plea deal over the past decade-plus and is no longer a danger to anyone. They argued he should be allowed to live pre-trial at his Manhattan mansion -- a home that prosecutors say would be a "gilded cage."
The two arguments came to a head in federal court on Monday for Epstein's bail hearing, where each side was given 20 minutes to lay out their positions.
US District Court Judge Richard M. Berman said he plans to make a ruling on Thursday. A pre-trial services report filed on Monday recommended that Epstein be detained, Berman said in court Monday.

(12,595 posts)There's no way Epstein would sit at home waiting for his trial. He's got enough money to get himself out of the country at a moment's notice, no matter where they put him -- except jail.
If he truly wants to bail from jail, then put him up in a Motel 6.

(21,675 posts)There's just too many high muckety mucks incriminated (and we probably don't know all of them) for anything to come of it. Look at the last time, and they had Epstein dead to rights. In fact, it will probably be easier for him now, since Chump/Barr.
