Indeed. I understand the type of psychological sickness that LBJ spoke about. This is about cultural inferiority:

But I don't understand violent racism. I don't understand wanting to kill because of color of skin or nationality.

Good one, Miss Bayard. The Speaker knows by now that she can control these ladies only to a certain degree. Like true Dems, these ladies think for themselves. It's the R's that fall inline; we Dems have to fall in-love.
