(3,479 posts)how viciously should the Democratic president sanction their fucking asses? They need to pay for 2016.

(11,738 posts)It isn't rocket science. Pat Buchanan laid it out for the Republicans back in the late 60's. He knew that the coalition on the right was shrinking and would continue to shrink because the actual policies on the right are for the benefit of a very narrow group of people. You keep you base riled up with fear and anger, then you suppress and demoralize the voters you oppose. That is exactly what right wingers have been doing ever since. They know there are more people who support Democratic policies so they lie, they gerrymander, they cheat, and they smear.
Flake is on the fainting couch but that bastard knows how it works.

(7,715 posts)Pat Buchanan was a complete hatchet man for Tricky Dick Nixon.
The only decent thing that I am aware that he did was in the 2000 election on the Palm Beach "butterfly ballot" where he said he was pretty sure that the people who voted for him there didn't intend to.
He is probably the best of them. The likes of him, Chuck Colson, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Lee Atwater and their ilk have played the nastiest of politics.
There is NO taking the high road with these folks.
You're absolutely right: all of this is by design and cruelly calculated to suppress the Democratic vote.
And, in 2016, they had Russia as well.

and also, he's offending groups that don't support him anyway.
Little downside for Trump, with probable upside.
Plus Russians.

(4,533 posts)He says it is a swap. Nice Republicans, well off suburban women, go in even greater numbers to dems but some low Ed White males who voted dem may like what Trump says. He says no one knows who wins in that swap.
