... in Brooklyn-Queens, New York! We aren't talking about the Deep South where maybe it's (or used to be) a socially-acceptable thing to do. In New York the KKK has never been socially acceptable, and Fred Trump was an outlier 80 years ago. He ran his real estate and apartment rental business by illegally excluding minorities, or segregating them to separate buildings. Chump grew up with this racism and continued it in his own business practices. He has never made an effort to disown or rehabilitate the racism of his family heritage.

I believe he has turned his fear/hatred of black people into the specific hatred of Muslims and dark-skinned immigrants, but that's been done for political gain.

My father in law bought an old barn in Pawling NY just north of NYC. While dismantling it he found some old steamer trunks. In the bottom of one of them was a KKK sheet getup and literature from the '20s and '30s.. weird stuff. KKK was all over..

... however people didn't brag about their membership. Only other Klan members knew who actually was in the Klan. And I do know where Pawling is - hard by the Connecticut border, just north of I-84.

Pawling was a strange little place. A little town smashed up against Conn/NY border. Not really Poughkeepsie and not really Waterbury. A bit too far north of the city and nothing between there and Albany/Pittsfield but farms... Nice quiet area.......
Accept when Leon Redbone played there one time... Great stuff.. Long time ago in a forgotten place..
