...whatever our view of Merkel, we should be alarmed at how other nations are now able to highlight the worst of America just by remarking on our president's inhumanity and virulent bigotry. We used to hold ourselves out as an example for other democracies, we're now in the 'what not to do' category in foreign affairs and history.

(9,426 posts)intelligent, woman president if only Putin had kept his fingers out of the US election. He had so much dirt on tRump and obviously other republicans, that he OWNED the entire group. His mission was to destroy the US, and in just a few short years, he has accomplished so much towards that goal.

(6,556 posts)She is the leader of a country that remembers the horror of living with fascism. We need to be proactive and remove the Natzi in the White House, before our children and grandchildren come to understand this the same way Germans and Germany did! I fear we are not too far from having that fate forced upon us if we cannot wake up a complacent citizenry ASAP!

(1,898 posts)Perhaps the Rethugs, who love to wrap themselves in the flag and do everything they can to align themselves with the military, would worry about this trend since some of our most important armed forces' overseas operations are on German soil.

(6,679 posts)He's terminal and maybe has a few more months. Lately his thinking has been really crystal clear. His mind is opening up while at the same time his brain is slowing shutting down.
He's been saying for a few months we need to start asking the leaders of Mexico, Canada and Europe for help. Our government is broken and the human rights violations are adding up. He thinks the conditions at the border, and in poor black neighborhoods, amounts to a form of genocide.
Maybe I should ask him to write a letter so I can send it to Chancellor Merkel.
