They seem to be scared.Fellow Conservative,
My heart sank when I saw the new FEC reports.
House Conservatives are getting MASSIVELY out-raised. We are in serious trouble.
House Liberals just announced a $29.2 million fundraising haul. Theyve beaten us SIX MONTHS in a row. Nancy Pelosi broke her personal fundraising record. Liberals are out-raising us in target districts. And Special Interests pledged $200+ million against us this quarter.
If you aren't worried, you should be. The Presidents agenda is in danger and our back is against the wall.
Help me, Steve Scalise, Karl Rove, Drew Ferguson and others fight back and youll get 5x-matched.
Look, I know the easy thing to do right now would be giving up.
But that means surrendering to the anti-Trump Radical Left and agreeing to a Socialist takeover of our country. That cant happen.
Anything you can do right now is critical. We cant leave anything on the table. Thats why Steve Scalise is 5x-matching ALL grassroots gifts until midnight:
Contribute $25 x 5
Contribute $50 x 5
Contribute $75 x 5
Contribute $100 x 5
Contribute $250 x 5
Contribute $500 x 5
If we can raise an additional 5,000 contributions this month we will be on track for victory, but we have to start now.
I encourage you in the strongest possible terms to help while Steve Scalise is still 5x-matching gifts. We need every edge we can get.
The stakes have never been higher.
Onward,

It did not change his views on gun control. No big surprise.

(16,646 posts)I got a call from some outfit doing basically a push poll. It was obviously from some extreme right wing outfit that was asking about my support, or lack thereof, for "extreme left wing policies of Nancy Pelosi..." I kept answering that I supported them. They guy kept asking even more extreme questions and not getting the answers he was looking for. I finally said, "I think maybe someone gave you the wrong number". He said, "I'll say" and hung up.

I don't know why. I keep thinking I should do something with it but it stinks the joint up so I just dump it in the garbage.

(231 posts)I sometimes answer the Republick party surveys, but use my late husband's email address which is still active although I never check it. He's been gone for 14 years. So If they send me marking crap, I don't have to wade my way through them.

(5,309 posts)I've never been a member of the NRA. I am quite active with fishing sites, have a few fishing magazine subscriptions, so that's where they probably got my name and address.
Whenever they send me a post paid envelope to send in my money, I put a dog turd inside a blank piece of paper that I have written the words "fuck you" and pop it in the mail.
A symbolic gesture I know but it makes me feel good for few minutes.

comment from a blog (DU I think)
I had a coworker who was a big time gun owner who kept a gun in every room in the house just in case someone broke in (lots of problems with that idea, may be worth a blog article someday, but thats what he did). He even went so far as to start buying more guns for each room after a school shooting, like home invasion and mass shooting are correlated somehow. He had let his NRA membership lapse and refused to renew it because he got tired of nonstop requests for donations. To him all the membership did was give the NRA to badger him for more money with phone calls, and direct mailings. If the
organization is as strapped for cash as it appears, those solicitations may have gone way over the top and people are simply tired of being badgered for money and are choosing to let their membership to lapse.
