@realDonaldTrump
Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rockys incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!

(16,079 posts)It wasn't Kanye West...it was Melania that asked him to get involved and to bring in the State Department.
In July 2019, he was arrested for aggravated assault (later changed to just assault) in Stockholm, Sweden after a concert, after he and his entourage were involved in a brawl on June 30. The victim was beaten, kicked and cut with broken bottles when down on the ground. The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he required stitches. ASAP Rocky's bodyguard also filed a counter complaint. ASAP Rocky's ongoing tour was put on hiatus for the trial. As it was judged there is a risk that he flees or tampers with evidence he may be kept in custody at Kronoberg remand prison until August.
He was visited by personnel from the US embassy shortly after his arrest. Some other artists have called for a boycott of Sweden due to the incident. A petition to release him has also been started. He has denied rumours about "inhumane" conditions. The allegedly "inedible" food included turkey, veal, and rhubarb pie with custard. Mayers' attorney Henrik Olsson Lilja has refuted the claims, stating that "he has been treated correctly." The family have asked Al Sharpton for help. Former US ambassador to Sweden Mark Brzezinski suggested that the government should interfere and speculates that racism may have been the cause of the brawl. Foreign minister Margot Wallström said the government will not interfere. Ove Bring, professor emeritus in international law and former international law adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, finds it strange that an ambassador doesn't understand the separation of powers. He would expect it from countries like China or Russia, but not from a democratic state. Fredrik Wersäll, former Prosecutor-General of Sweden, is also surprised. According to Dennis Martinsson, a criminal law professor in Sweden, having the suspect in detention is normal in this type of case. He also said the case will likely end in prosecution. The police conducted a search of the hotel room of ASAP Rocky's manager. ASAP Rocky has hired a new defense lawyer. In a move unknown in Swedish criminal history his US management hired a PR firm. On the 19th of July the prosecutor asked for an extension until Thursday to finish the investigation. First Lady Melania Trump asked President Donald Trump to get involved with Rocky's extradition, with assistance from the State Department.

And even then, why would Trump listen to her about anything?
