(236 posts)Only about 20% of NYC subway is elevated and the bedrock in which most of it lies doesn't just "collapse", barring some cataclysmic event. Whatever the nature of that huge event, it would dominate the headlines like you've never seen before and the state of the subway would be the least of the city's problems.
